I've had abdominal pain for the last two years. It started with bloating and lower-left abdominal pain. I saw several doctors. All said I had IBS.
I went on a gluten free diet, which did help some. The pains still remain, and while I still have lower-left abdominal pain, I also have pain under my belly button and at the sides of my belly button. I've also had bladder pains (or, what I believe to be the bladder).
I've had an ultrasound to check pancreas, gallbladder, liver, and also had a vaginal ultrasound. Those checked out fine. All bloodwork and urine tests have been normal.
Today, I feel rectal pain and pain under my belly button. I saw two GI's; one did nothing for me except tell me I had IBS; the other ordered blood work, including a special test with Prometheus Labs. The Prometheus Blood test came back with markers for Ulcerative Colitis and IBD.
I guess I'm worried that I have cancer. I've lived with this pain for two years, and it's mostly felt under the navel, and in my rectum. I haven't seen blood in my stools but once saw some blood on toilet paper. The doc who ordered the tests said I need a colonoscopy to confirm the UC diagnosis... but could I have colon cancer? I always have problems going to the bathroom... have thin stools, strain, constipation, and never feel like I "go" completely.
I see another GI next week and am just looking for advice.
