Diarrhea after esophageal cancer surgery

Recently(like 2 and a half weeks ago) my Dad had surgery to remove a tumor in his esophagus/stomach...he still has a stomach, see it was reconsruction surgery where what was removed had to be replaced with parts of your intestines.

Anyway,he seems to be doing well but everytime he eats he gets diarrhea?

Is that normal, could it be something serious?

Thanks for any info.
