Can it be operated

My mother is 66 year old and she has been diagnosed with esophagal cancer .
Tumor is about 7.5 cm in mid esophagus.
The PET scan does not show any secondry but endoscopy shows 2 fistulas.
Can this case be operated or chemotherapy is the only option.

I am US citizen but my mother is currently in India.
Can someone please advice .

Thanks.

Re: Can it be operated

The normal route for this very dangerous cancer is chemotherapy and radiation with the stated chance that "it sometimes is all you need."
But then it is almost always followed by surgical removal of the entire esophagus anyway because the C&R didn't work...are we surprised.

Jesus, 7.5 cm? How did she swallow?
