I posted awhile back. I have been battling HBP and all sorts of symptoms for almost 2 years. I see the light at the end of the tunnel finally. They think I may have kidney cancer. 50/50 chance as they had found a complex kidney cyst. I am schedule for surgery Dec. 7th to have it removed. Scared yes, but relief to say the least. I'm only 31 F and meds do not always work to control my HBP. I have spikes off and on. It's been a tough road. My regular dr didn't feel this was anything so I opted for a sec opinion outside my medical group. He (sec opinion dr)showed my CT and US films to 3 different radiologists so I did have 3 opinions. They agree this needs to come out. Due to insurance reasons I can not have surgery til dec. I switched drs again so I am able to see the sec opinion dr which I was very comfortable with. I did not want those other drs touching me lol. Anyways just wanted to update all of you. I hope that you too will find the answers and see the light at the end of the tunnel = ) take care
We will be hoping for the best for you. Sometimes knowing is not as scary as not knowing what the problem is. If it makes you feel better, there is a 40ish year old man that I know in our town that was diagnosed with that four years ago and he has done very well.
Good luck lisaa! I think my bp spikes were caused by Toprol - once I got off it I have just about stopped having them. I was set to be tested for adrenal tumors though, if the Toprol hadn't been the problem. I was looking for anything that might explain what was happening to me, and at that point finding a tumor as an explanation was better than not having any answer. Cancer is scary, but you now know why you are having the problems you are having. I hope the surgery relieves your problems and I hope you have a very favorable outcome.
Thanks everyone for the replys = ) I knew something was not right, with all the symptoms etc. I was having. My GP thought it was all in my head. Anyways I pushed to have imaging done of the adrenals and kidney as I know this can be a cause of HBP in younger people. I do not have a family history etc. So when they did do a CT scan thats when it was found but I was told it was just a cyst. I opted for a sec opinion and this new dr showed it to 3 different radiologists and they said it is very worrisome and needs to come out. But through persistence thats how it was found = )
Hi Lisaa...Sorry it is cancerous, but with todays technology, they work wonders, so hopefully all will go VERY well for you. Like U said, at least U have an answer, sometimes that is more of a relief then anything.
Major prayers for you for a very successful outcome. God Bless...
I'm glad you persisted and didn't take the "it's-all-in-your-head" stuff lying down.
Given that this cyst has remained relatively stable ( and not very aggressive) for nearly two years, it seems to me that that's a very good sign regarding benign vs. malignant.
I'll bet, in spite of your apprehension, you are anxious to get the surgery over with and to know what you are dealing with once and for all.
