Just received my Ct scan reading: Hypervascular at the lower pole of the right kidney; highly suspicious for renal cell carcinoma. Does this mean I have to have surgery? The mass measures 5.0x3.7cm. thanks for any help I can get with answers. New to site
I had a 3.9 cm tumor on my right kidney, lower pole which they removed laproscopic with the davinci robot. My surgeon was 38 (young to me at 48) but it is the young ones who are up on this new technology. He was also teaching other the Davinci.
I waited a month from tumor discovery to surgery, I was in the hospital 3 nights, and home with light pain meds. The largest scar is 1.5 inches, the other 4 scars are like 1/4 inch.
After 2 weeks I was getting around pretty good. The surgery is tough, I am not going to kid you, but with each day you will get stronger and before long you will be living your life as you should.
I wish you the best,
Brent

Just got my 2nd opinion schedule for Aug 31th. I have so many questions ask him. How long ago was your surgery? Did you go back to work? Thanks again for the information on your robotic surgery.
I had my surgery about 5 weeks ago, and I will return to work nest week, at the 6 week mark. Some go back to work earlier after laproscopic surgery, some later. I am getting around well, but am glad I had the time I have had to recover.
I am happy you have a second opinion, let me know how the appointment goes. It is difficult to wait, hang in there, this will be behind you before you know it.
When I went into the hospital, I was anxious, so when the nurse came and got me I asked for something to calm me down. They gave me two valium with a little sip of water, and that helped to ease me. The nest thing you know I was in bed with my wife at my side, and on my way to recovery.
