newly diagnosed
My Dad has been recently diagnosed with mesothelomia. Although he is 85 years old, he has been extraordinarily well and active for his age. He looks years younger than his age. We are all devested by this diagnosis and dealing with the daily problems of his illness. He is having a lot of pain in his right side and has been put on a Duragesic 25 patch. They tried him on a "50 strength" patch, but it was too strong for him and gave him too many bad side effects. He supplements the patch with Lortab. He has cold sweats now too. He is starting to loose his appetite. All of this has occured since the beginning of October. We will see the oncologist as soon as we can get an appointment. So far, he has been treated by his pulmonologist and family doctor.
I guess I'm posting this because I don't know where else to turn. I don't know what to do. If anyone has any coping skills, ideas, etc. that you are willing to share, I'd sure like to hear them. I'll be checking the boards often.
Thanks for "listening". I really could use the advise.
