Unhappy Needle Biopsy

I saw a respiratory specialist today, after much blood tests, two ultrsounds (neck & abdomen) a chest x-ray & a CT scan, all after discovering a small lump on my neck on Oct.9th (which has grown larger since)
I will be having a needle biopsy on the large, hard, lymph node on the left side of my neck & also on my left lung. I guess, luckily, the shadow seen on the chest x-ray & confirmed as a mass by the CT Scan I had, shows this mass close to the ribs, which I understand is biopsied more easily with a fine needle. I think I can handle the neck one, but I'm getting scared about the lung one.
Any words of wisdom here, anyone "been there, done that" ? Please I'd like to hear from you, thanks BibiGirl

Hi I am sorry I don't have knowledge of this exact test,,,, I did have to have a needle biopsy of a nodule in my thyroid gland, and I can tell you what that was like,,,,, it too is in the neck only rather deep inside.
They gave me a couple of shots to numb the area, these shots were like bee stings,,, just uncomfortable. They then stuck needles in one at a time (9 all together) and drew out samples. The samples they took were painless. All I felt was pressure. It did take place at a teaching hospital and when the tech allowed a student to do one it was a little ridiculous,,,,,she couldn't get the needle to the right spot and the tech kept saying things like " stay away from that its a vein" etc.... but it really wasn't very painfull at all. The stress made me feel very tired for a few days and I did have some bruising. Hope this hleps, good luck
Cheri
