Re: Smoking

First of all, on quitting smoking, congratulations are in order!

Second, the odds of having lung cancer at your age, having been a smoker for only a relatively short time and smoking only a few cigs a day are 99.9999999999999999999% in your favor! (I really want to say 100%! but nothing in life is ever really 100%).

You needn't "do" anything. Just continue not smoking and know that you have done one of the single most important things you can do to ensure yourself a chance at a long healthy life!

Peace of mind is important too. If you continue to be worried about this possibility due to cancer history in family or because you continue to have a cough or other symptoms, ask your doctor for a chest Xray. It is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

A CT Lung scan is 6 times more powerful than an xray and it can detect a tumor the size of a grain of rice. A CT Lung Scan at a private diagnostic center costs about $425. No doctors prescription necessary. I get one every year (former long term smoker) on my own. My health is my responsibility and not my doctors.
