Hi Sarah- If this person smokes, it coudlbe a smokers cough. But either way, I would certainly not ignore it. It is so simple to go have tests done. But, very difficult to live with advanced stages of lung cancer.
It does not matter when they quit smoking, if a person has "ever" smoked, for a long period of time, lung cancer is still a concern. I think it really should be checked. It is best to be safe instead of sorry. Trust me on that one! My husband has lung cancer now. If we had known earlier, alot of things could be different, they might have been able to catch it before he became terminal. Unfortuantelt, you can say "what if", but you can not turn back time and change things.
