just wondering?

just wondering...I was a smoker...just recently stopped...but it was time... I started when i was about 16-17 I am now 29... I smoked about a pack a day sometimes less sometimes a few more... am I at a higher risk for lung cancer... or with me stopping is the risk lower... should I be scared to death or just take it as it comes? I am scared... I mostly hate myself for ever starting that habit...
thanks

Re: just wondering?

Stopping smoking certainly does reduce your risk. It does not sound like you smoked much for a very long time. My best advice is, leave teh cigarettes alone, do not pick them back up. I nor anyone else on here can tell you if eliminated the risk, the society we live in alone puts us all at risk, again, my opinion... But I believe it is safe to say that you did reduce your risk.

I would not worry about it. Worry makes you sick, honestly! I would just continue to live the best you can, and do all in your power to take care of your body. Renee
