My step-father was just diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer, adenocarcinoma. He's been symptomatic for about 4 or 5 months. Under a catscan, there were some spots in his colon that showed up.
Here is my question. I can't find any information about a link between this cancer and the colon.
Everything I read says it spreads to lymphnodes, brain, liver, etc. Is it possible to spread to the colon? What does this mean in terms of stage? We're in the dark. We found out yesterday he had cancer, and today the specific kind. That is it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
They've also informed us that the cancer is inoperable.
Re: Question concerning non-small cell lung cancer
I feel your pain. My husband was just diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer, Stage IV on 5/24/04. It is inoperable also, and has spread to the spine, brain and 1 node. He will start chemo next week. As far as the colon, I have heard that the cancer will spread to the colon, and they know that it originated in the lung because the tumor cells found in the colon are actually lung cells.
I am trying to improve my husband's diet by eliminating all toxins in his food. He needs to be strong for this fight.
Good luck to you and your family, and never give up hope!
Re: Question concerning non-small cell lung cancer
Thank you, Anne.
Good luck to you and yours. This is my first exposure to anything like this, so I just don't know what to expect. My way of dealing with it has been reading as much as I can, trying to educate myself. Boy, I never thought finding solid, reliable info would be so difficult.
Anyway, I appreciate your words of support. Good luck, and stay positive.
