possible tumor on lung

Hi all,
I went for a checkup for my sinus infection and the dr ordered chest xrays looking for pneumonia. She pointed out a spot on my lungs or chest I was in shock. The tumor I had on my bone does metastisize to the pulmonary area but I have been clean for 9 yrs now.
Before the sinus infection I have been having chest pain and shortness of breath. Also pain in the middle of my back which I take an anti inflammatory for my leg pain{where the tumor was} and it's not helping either.
I also have been experiencing extreme fatigue, somedays with weakness and dizziness. Probably just the infection. I called this morning to have xrays redone using nipple markers so that will hopefully put any angst to rest.
The weirest thing is I have a seizure disorder and I smell smoke as well as other phantom smells. I am not or ever was a smoker so you can imagine how smelling smoke can bother a person. Anyone else have phantom smells as a symptom? I was told it can be from brain tumors{I have lesions in frontal lobes} siezures or some forms of cancer but not which ones. I also have a fast growing nodule on my thyroid, probably will get Fine needle biopsy in the fall.
Thanks,
Bonnie

Re: possible tumor on lung

Hi Bonnie, I am curious what kind of Cancer that you had 9 years ago? I have a 15 year old son with Osteosarcoma. He is doing really bad and having alot of pain in his back and left rib area. We have been fighting this for almost 2 years and we are worn out. He has not responded to anything given to him. His lungs are full of growth and we are excepting the outcome now. He is a wonderful guy and so strong. He knows where he will be when he leaves here and is at peace with it. We are very scared about suffocation. Take care and I will say a prayer for you.

Re: possible tumor on lung

GoGO,
I am so sorry to hear about your son, I will keep him in my prayers.
I had a Giant cell tumor which is a benign tumor, but it was so big it was my femur! It caused my leg to break, imagine the pain. I 'm sure your son can tell you.
I too have been in pain for the last 9 yrs{even longer before the tumor was found} and I hate every little thing that goes wrong. I have had my limb salvage prosthesis for 9 yrs as of July14th 1995. Not all it is supposed to be.
My dr said I have to wait til the Radiologist reads the films then she will order nipple markers if he says to. I can't help but have bad feelings about this. I always get bad news on my Bday. The pain is so bad in my chest/back I even went a couple of weeks ago, about 4 to be exact, and that dr basically said I had a pulled muscle in my back. he said he listened to my lungs and checked me out but didn't. I will be really upset if it turns out to be a tumor.
I am 43 and I cry when I think of the young people who suffer with cancer. I pray that your son will have his peace and no more pain.
Bonnie

Re: possible tumor on lung

Dear Bonnie, thanks for the prayers and keep your faith going strong. Don't diagnose yourself with Cancer yet. I always try to be optimistic about everything even when it's really hard to find something positive. Keep me posted on how you are doing. We leave this Sunday for Grant's Make a wish cruise. I am hoping everything will be ok for us on the ship. He is in so much pain. I have to keep him so drugged up. He is one tough kid and has a great outlook. In April he had to have the left arm amputated and has never complained. Take care and hang in there!! Glenna

Re: possible tumor on lung

Glenna,
I hope that your family has the best possible time on this cruise. I have heard that the make a wish foundation is outstanding! I wish Mark all the best and pray that he has a wonderful cruise.

I am trying to keep a positive outlook on this lung thing. Lately for me everything is going wrong with my body. My thyroid is enlarged and my seizure medication is wearing off, it probably needs a dosage increase.
Once again I hope that you all enjoy your trip and live for the days to come.
Bonnie
