Question Dry Mouth from Chemo or Radiation

Hi
I get a very dry mouth after my cancer op for throat cancer even though I did not have chemo or radiation. My specialist sent me to the Dentist and he said they were now using BI_CARB Soda mouth washes. You just mix some in warm water and wash your mouth out for as long as you can stand it. You do it as often as you like. Apparently there has been a reduction in the dryness and gum problems and loss of teeth. I have been doing it for 1 year off and on. I get a dry mouth still but wonder what it would of been like if I had not of done the washes.I did not have gum problems or loose any teeth. Has any one else heard of this.?

Re: Dry Mouth from Chemo or Radiation

My husband uses Biotene products, they work very well. They have toothpaste, mothwash and gum. He prefers the gum. You cab get these products at a drug store, in the toothpaste aisle. If you can not find it, go to teh pharmacy and see if they have it behind the counter. Good stuff!
