neupogen and radiation together

Just wondering if it was common for neupogen and radiation to be used together (in conjunction with chemotherapy). I know there is the 24 hours prior to and 24 hours through the chemo treatment that it is not used. Also -wondering what the next step may be if the neupogen did not produce results with the white blood cell count? My sister did have a transufusion which made her feel a little perkier but they still ended up defferring her chemo due to the continued low white blood cell count. I'm thinking the answers are probably not favourable but would still encourage all responses. Thank you all for your time and consideration.

Re: neupogen and radiation together

I do not knwo anything about Neupogen. My husband was given a shot called Neulasta after his chemo treatments, weekly. This shot pulls the white blood cells from the bone marrow and deposits the white blood cells into the blood stream. Maybe an option for her as well?

Yes this is a common practice. Whether they up the Neupogen dose or switch to another drug would be hard to say, not knowing all the variables.

Thank you for your replies and the name of another drug to consider. All info is helpful! How are things with you and Scott Renee? You've been on my mind and in my heart a great deal over these past few days.
