We were told Sunday that my sister has weeks to maybe months. We began to tell the family. Today her primary oncologist says he wants to start radiation again. I am so confused. Will this help? Does this mean she will get better. If she really is terminal why radiation? I need someone to be honest with us. Has anybody else gone through this? I can stand the up and down. It is to hard. What do we tell Trish?
the way i understood it with my dad is that they do those things for palliative care. to keep her comfortable and ease the symptoms of the cancer. some people opt not to go thru anymore of that since they are going to die anyway others keep on and keep on. its her preference. You should ask her what she wants. and of course that is just my opinon
Lost my precious daddy on 2/28/03 to small cell lung cancer with mets to liver
Mom went through radiation to reduce the swelling of the lymph nodes and to allow the oxygen to flow better to her brain. It allowed her a better end with maybe less confusion and pain.
Ask your sister what she would like to do. Some people make the choice to not have anymore chemo and such done to them. Ask the doctor what the radiation would be for... maybe there is a small miracle waiting to happen, maybe just a more comfortable time.
hi babbles me again my dad had radiotherapy to the bone cancer in his hip he wanted to try anything to be here longer but we were told this would'nt prolong his life only take some of his pain away and I think it did help as he no longer complained about his hip, but the treatment made him really tired and all he did after the treatment was sleep but if it helped his pain I think it was worth it thats only my opinion babbles but I hope it helps a little bit ..thinking of u all..mags..
