Post side effects of radiation

My son is undergoing treatment for non small cell lung
cancer stage IIIB. He is getting chemo and radiation.
He has blisters on his back and is having pains in his chest. Has anyone else had this happen? We are wondering if this is normal.

He went through chemo a couple years ago when he had Germ Cell cancer which was cured at that time but he didn't get radiation so we didn't realize it would have side effects like this. He had no symptoms of lung cancer except the swollen lymph nodes on his neck and outside the lungs near the bottom were more lymph nodes that looked a little swollen.

Thanks for any info.

my mom had radiation for her lung cancer and it is common to get blisters where he is getting the treatment. her radiologist gave he this stuff called Aquaphor healing ointment. ask your radiologist what he would suggest he put on it so it doesnt get infected.

Thank you for the reply. Now we know others have had the same thing.

I will check with my son to see if the oncologist suggested anything. Was the one your mother used a prescription?

i'm not sure. he just gave her the tubes in office. so ask the oncologist he might have samples in his office also. it helps getting samples, after all the $$$ spent on dr. apts. and scripts!!!!!
