Hello, In a previous post I recommended a great book to read called Final Gifts by Maggie Callanan and Patricia Kelly . I have another book that could be helpful to many as it talks about alot of life issues during the final chapter of life be it days, weeks or months.Good chapter on Pain too. This book is called "The Needs of the Dying" by David Kessler it bills itself as a guide for bringing hope, comfort and love to life's final chapter. I am only halfway through it but decided to recommend it as it can help you make sure that your loved one has the best life possible in what time is left. He even says we should not feel we need to always be strong as sometimes crying in front of our loved one or others involved can not only help with our grief but gives them permission to cry or vent their grief and live life in real time where we are holding nothing back. Crying does not mean we are giving up it means we are grieving and opening up that grief can lead to some very important discussions and even bring us closer.
I may be so into these books to because of my job as I know they will help alot when I am dealing with dieing patients and families of such patients .I feel anyone be it family, friends, healthcare worker should read these books as death is an important part of life and dieing people deserve to be treated as living people as until they die they are alive like the rest of us.We can see to it that the months, weeks,days they have left are full of hope and love and that they not have to indure pain.
I hope that any of you that decided to read these books see as much value in them.To end I would like to offer a verse from the end of Final Gifts as it offers a rather comforting view on death:
