Seeking information - Cancer: Lung Message Board

John had the pleural sac drainage today and came though it fine. They said, to us, that someone would call us with the biopsy report. I wasn't expecting them to biopsy fluid and don't quite understand what to expect. Are they looking to see if cancer is in the fluid? If so does that mean it has spread? Information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Linda, yes that is what they are doing...to see if there are cancer cells in the fluid. Bud had malignancy in the fluid. I wonder now if that's what prompted the cancer to move to the ribs and backbone...never will know I guess. Good luck with his tests, I'll be reading to see how things turn our.
