moms oncologist has new treatment avail......

My mom is going to a comprehensive cancer center in Michigan. I beleive there are less than 10 in the whole country..........

Moms thurasic oncologist told her yesterday he wants her to possible try a new radiation called tomo radiation (hope I spelled it right).....

she responded well to the first 2 chemos with a 30% shrinkage. She was scheduled for 2 more chemos, scans, and then her oncologist will sit down with a board of 30 dr's to reveiw the tumor.

(janmarie, this is where the expertise will come in with surgeons and radiologists).............the oncologist doesn't go it alone here.............

He said he may want to try this new radiation. Has anyone heard of it? Depending on how well the tumor shrank this next time, they may do both or just the one..............
He said there is a protocol treating lung cancer, and dr's follow this protocol, HOWEVER, he said, we don't necessarily follow typical protocols, as there are so many other options.

Now, janmarie, regarding the cyberknife with mom..........first the PA (physition's ***'t) told me when I asked..........no, no way. that is only with very small small tumors, and your mom is in the advanced stages...yada, yada.........Then her oncologist walked in, and I asked him, and he said it is a possiblity. that is where the board of dr's comes in.

Ok, I have to get the kids off, and vote................

hugs

angel

Re: moms oncologist has new treatment avail......

My Brother in law was diagnosed as Stage IV small cell aggressive lung cancer which had progressed to liver, lungs and now is in his brain. Only 4% of cancer treatments toward this stage and type of cancer is successful and that would be living up to one year! You can research for yourself on the internet. I found the protacal that the doctors are told to use. I even found a cancer treatment called the Burzynsky Clinic in Houston that treats a person based on genetic research, but unformatunately my brother in law in going to them did not possess a gene that they had previoiusly treated. So their treatment was unsuccessful. However, they have had much success with brain tumors and other types of cancer, but are expensive.

While Chemo can be used to PROLONG life which my brother in law opted to take...ibut IT WILL NOT CURE it. It will only prolong this type of cancer unless a miracle happens. Now he is suffering immensely and that is only the very beginning before he eventually dies. All of this was created due to the chemo and the radiation affecting his body.

I suggest to EVERYONE that instead of waiting for cancer to appear...you begin to research what you eat, the water you bathe in (chlorine etc.) and remember if you cannot eat it.....don't put it on your skin. Cancer is NOT being CURED....it is a money making business and it is about the MONEY....not about saving lifes. Take control by juicing, eating right and using the internet to know what is out there other then PHARMA DRUGS. Also, in research there aer herbs in China that treat cancer.....don't you think our doctors might want to try them? No, they want to make money off of chemo and radiation and then that person suffers in other ways if they do survive. Did you know that plain old VITAMIN C is proven to fight cancer? DId you know that statin drugs that are promoted to fight chloresterol cause cell proliferation which means it would make new cell growth...so what about the bad cells??? My brother in law was on Lipitor for 3 years before the cancer was found already in his lungs and liver....did you know that research has shown that statin drugs promote tumors in rats? Did you know that a study on 650 seniors was performed with statin drugs and 24 cases of cancer was seen and thus it is NOT recommended to admister to Senior Citizens.... Yet his doctor recommended it to him at the age of 74 and PUT HIM BACK ON IT AFTER HIS CHEMO TREATMENTS. I am sorry....but it is about the money and we all need to research everything any doctor tells us to take!

Re: moms oncologist has new treatment avail......

I think you have a chip on your shoulder, and I think it is unfair of you to tell people to go out and juice and drink vitamin c to cure your cancer.

Lung Cancer is aggressive, and needs to be attacked on the onset. By swallowing vitamin c and making juice or if going to china for herbs were a concrete answer, then many people in my passings would still be here today.

I have been praying for answers for my mother..........maybe this new tomo therapy could be her answer, maybe not, but compared to 5-10 years ago, there have been major advancements in cancer, and many people surviving, and my mother could be one of them.

I am sorry your brother-in law died, however, he did have metastisized cancer in several places. At that point, heavy chemo and radiation would be your only hope I beleive, along with good nutrition and possibly some herbs....................You can't bury your head in the sand. Chemo is unfortunately the only hope for alot of people, and by you coming on this sight where people come to find solice, peace, friends, support and answers of hope, you are deliberately crashing faith for many.

My suggestion for you would be to open a bible, and ask God to help those around you with Cancer................To help them be strong, and to endure their battle..........

You might want to ask Him to help you as well...........

God Bless

Angel

Re: moms oncologist has new treatment avail......

I've been taking all the supposed anti-cancer herbs and vitamins including Essiac tea. If my X-ray and blood tests come back bad then that will confirm for me that all that junk is just snake oil. I don't believe there is some "hidden mysterious cure" that the medical community is not using or talking about. Yes, doctors make good money but it would be very hard for most people who want to work in the medical field to be in it for that reason only. Doctors desperately want to cure and help their patients and sometimes it's just not possible. Certainly try alternative medicine if you want to, you never know, but to completely denounce conventional medicine for others is just going too far in my opinion.

Blessings
