Hello again, My best friend and I have been through a journey getting prepared for chemo and radiation. We went wig shopping and was finally successful and bought a couple of wigs.

We went to a salon and had a lot of that long blond hair cut off, so it wouldn't be as devastating when it did.

My question is, how long after she starts her chemo can she except her hair to start coming out?

Hi Kickle- When can you expect to lose your hair? That all depends on the specific drug that has been prescribed to you. In fact, there are some drugs that will not effect your hair cells. Science has come along way.

My experience had me losing hair during week 7 (after 2 chemo sessions, both 1x every three wks.). I was prescribed a Cisplatin-Docetoxeral combo, a real hair loser!

Also, you may respond differently than the next person would. Remember we are still all unique. I wish you the best. Live fully...

My brother did not lose his hair until after his chemo was over, about 2 to 3 months later. When it grew back, it was prettier than ever but was white as snow. He was 48. He was a dark blonde. In the sunlight his natural hair looked blonde, but in the house it looked brown, that is what turned to snow white. It was thick and pretty though.

I believe it does vary. My father starting loosing his hair prior to the chemo sessions...about 3 sessions into radiation treatments - he has brain mets.
It is wonderful that you are with your freind on this journey...that is great

Hi-
My husband is on his 4th line of chemo and all 4 were different believe it or not! I think it depends on the person and the type of chemo. On the 1st line he lost his haiir about 16 days after chemo.
On the 2nd line chemo he lost it about 10 days.
On the 3rd line he was told he would lose his hair and did not lose any!
On the 4th line chemo he lost it on the 14th day.
Now when I say lose it I should say that I had to buzz his head since the hair was coming out in handfulls.
You are a sweetheart of a friend!
