Question vomiting after radiation

My dad started radiation yesterday, and is vomiting afterwards. Is this normal? If so, is there anything that can help to prevent it?

Re: vomiting after radiation

Hi LisaFaith- I had 10 radiation treatments for a sacrum tumor that had spread into bone and lymph nodes originating from the lung. Yes, vomiting came along with it. However, we are all unique and respond in various ways.

Best to you and family... Tom

He had a tumor removed from his brain, so for now he is just having radiation on his head. He will have a total of 10 treatments (today was #3.) When the radiation is complete, they will wait 3 days, and then start chemo. The doctor hasn't said anything about radiation on his lungs. Today was a little better, just a little nausea, but no vomiting.

Re: vomiting after radiation

Hi, if your dad is experiencing nausea with radiation, ask the radiation oncologist or his nurse for a prescription for an anti-nausea pill to take about 1 hour pre radiation. This usually helps.
