pleural effusion resolved by itself?

I posted before about my husband. He developed a large pleural effusion after a bad fall in the end of October. In the process of figuring everything out he had a CT scan that showed multiple pretty small nodules (the bigger ones were 1cm) scattered in both lungs. The report came as "consisten with metastatic cancer" because he had kidney cancer almost 11 years ago. He decided against open chest biopsy (the doctors didn't think the other kinds of biopsies would be reliable because of location and size) because he decide he would not do chemo or radiation.
Well, since the end of November he has been improving and ALL the symptoms have disappeared. He has no pain, no breathlessness, no coughing, gained all the weight back, can do any exertion and feel normal, etc. He had an xray about 10 days ago that showed that there is significantly less fluid and the effusion was downgraded from "large" to "moderate".
Has anyone experienced this with their lung cancer?
Thank you

Re: pleural effusion resolved by itself?

i did have somewhat the same experience, when i was first diagnosed i was having a lot of discomfort. they said it was a small pleural effusion. for a few months it stayed the same they couldnt do anything about it. then a couple months later it just resolved itself. they told me that happens . im grateful it just seemed a little strange . i guess somehow the fluid is just reabsorbed.

im glad to hear your husband is doing better.. ... i wish him continued luck with recovery. best wishes-melissa
