Valley Fever?

Do any of you know what Valley Fever is? Someone close to me just had her Pet Scan and the doctor doesn't think she has lung cancer although it can't be ruled out yet.. He said its possible that she has Valley Fever instead.. Next she sees a lung specialist to see what he/she thinks.. Have any of you heard of this or had it?
Thanks for any input..

Re: Valley Fever?

Valley fever is a fungus contracted by inhaling spores that are carried in dirt in the air most often. If living in Arizona it is most often seen heavily in areas of new construction, although has been seen in scattered areas of the southwest. Sometimes no signs and at times can be flu like symtoms or just a cough. Occasionally bone pain. It can affect most ares if the body if left unchecked. Usually diagnosed by a blood test it can be confirmed. Sometimes other tests needed. Treated with antifungals. Must be treated aggresively. Sometimes the body can take care of it itself if the immune system is strong. Most often treatment is desired. Follow up with your Dr. for sure!!!
