Saggy Skin

Hi

Due to my rapid weight loss I am sad to report that I have very saggy skin it's loose, hangs, and wobbles about. I know this is not life threatening or anything, but it's demoralising. Does anyone have any idea how to tighten saggy skin - hopefully I will be around in the summer and would like to wear summer clothes. Thanks

Cee

Re: Saggy Skin

Hi Cee10
I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your problem, but do totally understand how you feel. I wonder if one of those fancy seaweed wraps or something like that would help the skin to look better? If nothing else maybe a nice beauty spa day would make you feel better. I've though of it for me, but not in my budget.
Since loosing my hair I've been terribly depressed about the way I look. It was OK at first when I still had some and I buzzed it real short, but now that all I have is little white wiry spikes here and there, but mostly scalp, I look like a middle aged Billy Idol in bad drag. (No offense to Billy Idol...I love White Wedding.) It's totally humiliating and I too wonder what I will do this summer. I'm already too hot in hats, and I live in New England. Sorry but bald is not beautiful on middle-aged women!
I think it's terrible that the cancer and chemo has to rob us of our own self-image and self-worth too.
Send you good thoughts and a big ((((HUG)))).
Faith

Re: Saggy Skin

Hi Faith, Thanks for your answer

I do understand about your hair loss I would hate it and have to agree the 'bald look' is for the kids and older men. Have you thought of straw hats there are some cute ones about, you could tie a flowing scarf to the hat to make it more feminine.

A friend of mine had her colours done, the colour consultant held different pieces of coloured fabric next to her face - some colours drain and others enhance, they are different for everyone. I have experimented with this and it really does effect how one looks. I was wondering if you could discover your colours and get some scarfs in the colours that make you look better. The hair loss must be so very difficult, have you tried a wig? I would think they might be hot though.

I have invested in some very fancy cream lol and hope it works, in summer it gets to be about 100F here for months. Now I avoid the mirror as I no longer recognise the person looking back at me, wasted and lacking umph - just have a quick check before I go out, all my clothes are far too large for me, so I look like some type of bag lady.
Ever see that movie the shrinking man?

Hope you find a solution soon, we have to try and remember that the weirdo looking back from the mirror is not who we really are, put on a smile and some false confidence then wow the world.

Big hugs and god bless

Cee

Re: Saggy Skin

Hi Cee,
I sure hope that the expensive cream works for you. I've been trying to take better care of my facial skin lately, in hopes it wont get worse as I get further along with treatments.
Wonder if there are any books to help us women with these things??? If not, there should be!
Yes, I agree, even if we aren't looking our best, put on a cheery face, hold your head up high and face the world! We ARE still gorgeous women and cancer cannot take that from us, because that comes from within!
God Bless!
Faith

Re: Saggy Skin

faith, something that might be of interest to you is that the american cancer society in your area can help with the facial aspect. the offer a class free of charge that helps answer all these questions and to deal with all the changes that your skin goes through with treatments. also the teach how to better apply makeup. and deal with the loss of eyelashes and eyebrows. the best part is they gives yo lots of free stuff (expensive makeup and things) i have talked to several women at my cancer center that have done it and were very happy. i plan to contact them soon. just thought i would pass that on.
good luck.....melissa
