My 80 year old Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and had surgery to remove the upper lobe of her left lung in 2005. The surgeon thought he got all of the cancer, but in Sept., 2006 we learned that it was back and is now in all of the lungs. She has never smoked in her life so we were shocked when they found lung cancer. The doctor says it is Mucinous Bronchoaveolar Carcinoma. (I think that is how it is spelled).
She has had two chemo treatments in the last month and a half and 14 days after the 2nd. treatment, she developed a fever and thought she had the flu. She is feeling better but her pulse rate is staying 110 to 113 for the last 3 days. Is this normal?
She is scheduled to see a surgeon on Fri. to have a Porta-Cath inserted to continue chemo.
Her tongue was also coated a thick white color and she has some small sores in her mouth. I read a cancer phamphlet that stated this was a side effect of chemo and the doctor has called her in medicine for it and that is getting better.
She was in bed all day yesterday which is not at all like her and late yesterday afternoon she awakened and her clothes were soaking wet but she said that she now felt much better. Should I let her doctor know about the high pulse?
