Lung Nodules/side Pain

I would like to tell my story hoping to get some input and thoughts. Last month I developed some pain in my right side, mainly around the waist area. My doctor thought I had pulled some muscles from doing some heavy cleaning. He sent me to therapy, which did not really help. So, I suggested having a CAT scan, which then showed some lung nodules in both lungs. My family doctor said, "it could be nothing", and he now has me going to a pulmonary doctor (May 15.). I am wondering if pain in the side might be caused by lung nodules? Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of pain. It is mainly concentrated in the waist area and does not hurt when I breathe, only when I turn to the right or left. I am quite anxious to get to see the pulmonary guy, and since I couldn't get in until the 15th of May, I thought I would seek some input from this site.

Thank you, and any thoughts would be appreciated. I am quite upset and worried, and have been reading this site for some input on other people's experiences.

Re: Lung Nodules/side Pain

Judy,

Sorry you have to even be worried about this right now. Try to hang on until the lung specialist appointment -- I know that is easier said then done. We went to a different lung specialist when we couldn't get in quickly to the one recommended by our family doctor. You may want to give that a thought.

Our experience with lc was both lungs were loaded with tumors and no pain was ever experienced. That was our experience, maybe others will post different.

It could be all kinds of things like TB, sarcoid, etc. The specialist will run tests to determine what is really going on. (We prayed for TB - believe it or not!)

Stay tough and keep us posted.

Re: Lung Nodules/side Pain

Hi Judy,
Boy do I know what you're going through. Last year after my parents died of LC, I asked to have a CT done just to make sure nothing was there. Well, they found nodules as well. I had to do a lot of waiting for pulmonary dr appt, PET scan and such. I just had a CT done in March and everything is stable, they think it is nothing. Its been a year and Im finally breathing a little easier, but you can imagine last year when I got this news so soon after parents death how I felt. I had no pain at all. I hope everything comes out fine and just be as patient as you can. Let us know.

Becky

Re: Lung Nodules/side Pain

Thanks so much pbj11, for your reply. I do keep telling myself that there are so many other things that could be going on, but of course, it doesn't really help trying to convince yourself otherwise. I have heard so many people say that they did not experience any pain with lung problems. I keep going back to the heavy cleaning I did, and two days later is when the pain started in my waist area, and I do want so bad to blame it all on the muscle issue. I can understand why you did pray for TB! Being that my appointment is next week, I guess I will just hang in there and wait it out. The waiting is so hard; I am beginning to have real anxiety about all this. But, I also thought if it looked terribly serious, I would think my family doctor would have been a bit more aggressive in getting me in to see a specialist. He suggested I call and make an appointment, which is what I did.

But, I shall just sit here, wait and worry, and in the meantime read all the posts from the nice people here. Thanks again for your reply; I appreciate hearing from you.

Hope your doing ok, and getting your health back on the right road.

Re: Lung Nodules/side Pain

Becky, thanks for your reply, as well. I am so sorry to hear about your parents. That is very difficult to go through. We just lost a grandaughter (21 yrs old) to brain cancer, and it was devestating. You did the right thing by having yourself tested, and I am so glad eveything turned out well for you. I guess everyone goes through the "waiting game" when an illness happens, and it isn't fun as we know. I am beginning to feel terrible just from the anxiety of waiting! I am sure you have been through that also.

I really am glad that your tests all came back negative. I hope you are doing well and having a happy, peaceful, healthy life. It was so nice hearing from you and pbj11, and I will keep you posted.

Stay healthy.
