Involuntary Leg Movements - Cancer: Lung Message Board

Last week, I had to awake my husband from a deep sleep. Both of his legs were jerking involuntary. It seemed to go on for about 10 minutes almost as if he was having a seziure.

It has not happened since, but he has mentioned that he had lower back pain on occassion.

He has had no chemo or radiation treatments since April so I do not think it is due to that. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'd think if it had been a seizure, you wouldn't have been able to wake him and more than just his legs would've been jerking. My neuro-oncologist always asks me if I wake up in the morning having urinated in my sleep, as a night seizure could cause that. Not all brain seizure include jerking movements though. Luckily I've never had a seizure, just some vision changes from the brain tumor.
Perhaps he was having dreams, or just has restless legs. My old BF used to jerk his legs in his sleep at times too.

Hi.
My dad initially experienced tremors in his legs/feet. This was one of the reasons we took him into the dr - when he was initially diagnosed. It can be a mild seizure (this is what my dad was experiencing). It was basically where his foot would move up/down and he couldn't control it...something I would not have thought to be a seizure...the major seizures are pretty scary - seen my dad experience this as well...never want to see that again.
Not to scare you, but I would tell his dr about it and have it checked out - just in case.
