ct scan

Would a ct scan show up any suspicious abnormalities ? I know that x rays do not always show things up.

Re: ct scan

A ct scan is much more accurate than a standard chest x-ray. The accuracy despends somewhat on what they started out looking for and whether or not they did it with contrast or not as contrast will show things that might not turn up without etc...

Re: ct scan

I have had pain in my chest for months and have had numerous x rays all do not show anything. After going around in circles for i dont know how long i have now had a ct scan with dye injected. I have had loss of appetite, nausea, and weight loss. Had other tests abdominal ct scan, brain ct scan all show nothing which is good news, however i am due to see my specialist on mon for the results of the ct chest scan and i am frightend that they have found something. I started to be unwell last july and i am still not right now, i have no cough or blood just these other symptons.

Re: ct scan

Hopefully they will not find anything bad. Standard chest x-rays can miss a lot because the mass might be hidden by bone or another structure...
My cancer went misdiagnosed for a long time until it was found by accident when I was getting a CT scan for possible prostate cancer.

Re: ct scan

Oh no that must have been a big shock for you, did you have any symptoms? and hope you don't mind me asking what type of cancer is it?
I had a routine check up in April and they found a mole on the back of my neck, i had it removed and it was melanoma, i then had to have a second incision to make sure that it had all gone. I am so thankful that it was found and removed quickly. Thankyou for taking the time to answer my questions
