My Dear Friend is dying (HPV and lungs) - Cancer: Lung Message Board

I have a wonderful and Dear Friend who was dignosed with lung cancer. She is 43 yrs old. The Drs said the cancer is inoperable. She has several tumors in her lungs all from wich the Drs said are from the HPV virus (this is so odd) when you think HPV you think of cervical cancer. Yet some how she has lung cancer...has been doing chemo for awhile now. In Feb it will be a year from her dignoses. That is how long they gave her to live. She had a CT scan done about 2 mo's ago and the tumors shrunk by 50%....she just had another CT scan done and it showed a blood clot in the lung..and she is in the hospital on blood thinners....I'm just so very down about this. She is quite optimistic in not givin up....I pray by a miracle she might prove these Drs wrong...things aren't looking well right now. Has anyone else heard of HPV causing other cancers......This all started from a UTI..which lead to more test

I am very sorry about your friend....

I was just curious though about your question about HPV...
did they say she had lung cancer? or is it possible that she has
cervical cancer that has metastisized to the lungs.... there is a difference...
and that would make more sense... b/c no..I have not heard of HPV causing other cancers... but... maybe?? if so..it will be even that more critical for everyone to get tested and treated and immunized... scary thought...

lance armstrong had cancer in his lungs but I dont believe it was lung cancer..
it was testicular cancer that had spread there...

I went to my ENT (ear, nose, throat) doc the other day because I had an ear infection. I broke down in his office and told him I was recently diagnosed with cervical adencarcinoma in situ. During our conversation he mentioned that they are seeing some cases where HPV has caused cancer to the throat! HPV is not something to take lightly! I wish I was eduacated about HPV before I contracted it.
