Rught upper lobe pulmonary nodule

Hi everyone my name is Bun, I feel for you all, you all have been througth so
much.
I am new here and it looks like I will be going thought it to.

At this time I don't know if I am coming or goin, they found a spot on a X ray.
I had most of the test done, the only one that came back positive was the pet.
They are calling it an active tumer or spiculated mass R.U.L. compatible with
malignacy.
there is a 3.5x1.8 cm suv 2.79 a bit biger than a quarter, at this time they can take it out, with an 85 percent survival. But if the node is cancer, it's a hole new ball game.
I am now going for an MRI Sept. 21 2008 on my head and a gad what is a gad?
sugery is on Sept.23 2008. will they have the results of the MRI then?
sugery is at St.Joseph's and, MRI is at Toronto General, Why can't they do all this at one place, it's so crazy.

Re: Rught upper lobe pulmonary nodule

Hey Bun,

The main thing is to not panic. Do the tests, listen to the docs, research your options, then decide what to do (if anything). This kind of news makes us all crazy for a while but we learn to take things one day at a time. Patience is essential and waiting is the hardest part.

I was dxed with stage II lung cancer on 5/16/08, had surgery on 6/25 and start chemo next Friday 9/5. Also I am a twenty month survivor of prostate cancer also stage II. Both were caught in their early stages by a very diligent doctor. Sounds like you may be as fortunate also so take heart.

Jim

They are sayin they have it early, but they don't know for sure, they realy can't tell me anything just yet.
Boy the wait is toooooo much, another 22 days befor I know.
From all the post I've read thing don't look to good for so many, or it's a very long haul.
I do go for my Per Admission this week, I hope they can tell me more.
I have so many question but not able to get them answerd, Yes I have them all down on papper.
My Bigest fear is what all this is do to my daughter, She seem to be ok at this time, all I can say to her is that I will be fine.
I would like to know how long is recovery after sugery ruoghly.
I am a very strong person, 46 year old, never had any problems befor this, and a great set of lungs, so I was told by the surgent.
I am hoping all I need is the surgery.
Would like to know more about your surgery if thats ok. Thankyou very much Jim.

Re: Rught upper lobe pulmonary nodule

Hey Bun,

It took me about 5 weeks to recover from surgery. At that time I started my excercise routine and started walking a mile a day. I am 74 years old so you should recover quicker than that. I had very little pain considering I had the open surgery. You might look into VATS surgery if it is available to you. I hear it is easier than open surgery.

Good luck,

Jim
