Does anyone out there know if a Doctor has a sense for whether or not someone has lung cancer after doing a Bronchoscopy? I know they need to do a Biospy to know for sure, but do you think they can give you an idea after the procedure whether or not they believe they see cancer?
When they do the Broncoscopy they can try and get a sample. They usually use a small brush to try and scrape cells from it. When they tried that with me it started bleeding profusely and had to stop and were not able to get a sample. I did not know what kind of cancer I had until the surgeon removed my right middle lobe and it was sent to the lab for biopsy.
Dave, the did get a sample and will biospy it. The doctor said if it comes back negative that doesn't rule out cancer, it means he might not have been able to go up high enough in the tumor. (it is right outside the bronchia locking the airway to the right lung). That scares me and makes me think he saw what he thinks is cancer. We will get results Tuesday. One day a a time.
