indeterminate nodule

As a result of a ct scan due to another issue, radiologist discovered a 1.9 x 1.0 centimeter indeterminate nodule on upper left lung. Being a smoker and 57 yrs old, pretty scared. My internest scheduled me with a thorasic surgeon, but I dont know what course to take, wait and see, needle biopsy, or surgery. I believe my hospital uses vats. Any input would be appreciated. thanks!!1
