Question Need to decide on the priority of treatments

My aunt was diagnosed with a brain cancer and the cancer was surgically removed.
Later on, when the tissue analysis came back it became clear that this was not the cancer itself, but only a metastasis.
A CT scan showed that she suffers from an Adenocarcinoma in the left lung & multiple metastasis in both lungs after cranio tomii.

In the time being the tissue that was removed from the brain is being analyzed with the hope to learn what kind of treatment will get the most results with the cancer.
Those results are expected to be ready in a few days, but for the time being the doctors wish to radio-treat the brain in order to subdue any residues of the metastasis that was removed.

Now we have to decide on a treatment strategy:
1. To begin radio the brain right away (could take a few weeks) and then to treat the lungs (the cancer & the metastasis) <it's impossible to take both treatments simultaneously>.
2. Or to wait a few days (maybe a week) to the lab results -> treat the lungs (probably with chemicals) and then radio-treat the brain.

Please, if you have any thoughts that may help, share it with us

Re: Need to decide on the priority of treatments

i dont know if this will help. my husband has lung cancer that went to brain.
they did radiation on brain first , i think because the brain is most important.
it controls everything. they said they had more time to do chemo on the lung
but he has non small so it grows slower. anyway his brain has been ok so far.
its been a year and a half since his brain was done.

Thanks for the reply. It does reassure that your husband did not develop any more brain cancer.

Re: Need to decide on the priority of treatments

my husband has nsc lung cancer in right lung and it spread to the brain.
they decided to give him radiation on brain first to get rid of tumor. i think
because the brain is so important and controls everything. then when that
was done, they started the chemo on his lung. nonsmall grows slower than
small cell so they had time to work on the lung. he has had chemo for one
year and a half so far. hope the chemo works better than ours has so far.
hope this helped a little.
