5mm nodule in elderly woman

My mother in law has been feeling ill for a while, hospitalized recently....for nausea, lack of appetite, weight loss, weakness and fatigue. She is 79 years old and for the most part has been in good health.

Her sodium levels were low and she was anemic. They did a cat scan and it said "Non-calcified 5mm nodule on the anterior aspect, 3mm on the inferior aspect...follow up in 6 months".

She was not a smoker but her husband was for about 20 years back in the 1950's or so.

I am concerned that waiting 6 months could be too long.

Any input would be appreciated...thanks
