behind my heart

i was just recently diagnosed with a 11mm non calcified nodule in my left lower lobe of my lung and it is right behind my heart. The family doctor told me that i should be concerned about this being that it is non calcified and is sending me to a pulmonary doctor to have a look at it! I have been going to the ER because i have had chest pains and i thought that i was having a heart attack or something, so they did a ct scan with contrast and found the nodule. My BP runs low and my heart rate is all over the place. one minute is is in the 100's, the next it will be in the low 40's. My family doctor said that being that this nodule is right behind my heart that it could be pressing on the bagel nerve that runs down the back side of my heart and could be causing the problems that i am having. What should i feel? Should i be worried, should i tell them that i want it out of my lung! or should i just let it go! i need advise!

Re: behind my heart

You certainly can't let it go, follow up on this. As for having it removed from your lung, that is a specialist decision (and then ultimately -your decision). You may also inquire about a second opinion and then decide, just be careful to not let this drag out as it does make sense that it could be effecting your heart. On a good note, they referred you to a pulmonary doctor.. if they thought it was cancer I 'think' they would have referred you straight to an oncologist (cancer dr).

Best of luck!!
