| Stage IV - inoperable...Really???
I have a dear friend who I am healthcare POA for was diagnosed this week with Lung Cancer IV with metastis in her brain. She presented with ataxia and the did a crainotomy on Monday going home tomorrow (yeah!). The crainotomy was a success and there are no other leisons on her brain. But, the cancer is in the upper right lobe (3.5cm) encroaching on her bronchule tube and was seen via CT in a few lymph nodes adjacenet to the lung. No other leisons anywhere on her body. The staff keeps referring to the cancer an inoperable. But, how many with Stage IV pushed for a lymphectomy or partial lung removal? I am looking at it as since she cannot really start chemo coming off of the crainotomy for several weeks, would this be a good time to go ahead and try? They keep looking at stage IV as pallative care. Please share your experiences.
