Nodule doubled in two weeks

Hi!
Has anyone had a solitary pulmonary nodule grow from 1cm to 2cm in two weeks?

Setup:
12/4 breast MRI - saw 1cm nodule
12/6 chest xray - didn't see nodule
12/14 ct scan with contrast saw 1cm nodule
12/22 referred to thoracic surgeon/ pulm group
Surgeon looked at scan and said it looked like bac (cancer) so I needed to get pet
12/29 pet scan shows double in size and high uptake

Doc put me on 875mg of augmentin while I await my followup with surgeon on jan. 5. I know I could also have fungus in lungs. Worried it's cancer and it's still growing. My surgeon hasn't seen report yet as she's been out of office for holiday.

I've had cough with cold(different colds...I'd get better and then start again) for 3 months but nothing I thought warranted going to doc about. Just
annoying.

Ideas?
