Hey, I am going through some pains that I am very terrified may be lung cancer. For over 24 hours, I have been having a discomfort pain in my lower ribs, just under them. And the discomfort has switched from the left side to the right. I also have a caugh that has lasted per a month. I'm not sure if this caugh is a habit or something wrong. Can you help me? Give me any ideas on what this may be? Reassurance? I am 16.

Sounds like an upper respiratory infection. Or pnuemonnia which can put fluid in the lower lungs and make them kind of hurt and can make a cough last a while. I would go to the doctor and get an xray.

The pain in your lower ribs could actually be caused by the coughing, not be the cause of it. However, it does sound like you may have some kind of chest infection, but don't worry, they are fairly easy to clear up with antibiotics.

I would stop worrying about lung cancer, I would guess at some kind of infection, but you really need to go to your doctor as it's unlikely to go away on its own
