I am new to this! Hello everyone! I am trying to figure out what all these crazy things are that are going on in my mouth. I do not have insurance so when people say, go and get it checked out, i can't. that is why i am here. here it goes: first off i have chewed tobacco for years so that is why i am so scared. i have had this click in my throat when i swallow for about a year. lately i have this burnt feeling on my tongue and within the past five days i have red bumps on my tongue (like inflamed taste buds). i did the oral cancer check myself and i do feel bumps in my upper lip, i can't feel them with my fingers but i can with my tongue. the only thing is they seem to be exactly the same on either side so that makes me think they are just salvory glands (but not sure). Is there anyone out there that can give me some advice or that has the same thing going on that maybe found something out from the doctor??? I would really appreciate any advise!!!

I am really sorry and wish that I could help. I do not know alot about oral
cancer. My father had oral cancer in 1982 that developed into throat cancer
and then lung cancer and my dad passed away in 1983. He really did not
have many symptoms. He had some jaw pain and some teeth that were
bleeding and after going in to a routine dental check up a black sore was
found on the side of his tounge and it was oral cancer. My dad did not chew
but he did smoke cigars. That is my limit with knowledge of oral cancer.

Just wanted to say the bumps you're feeling are probably salivary glands (as you mentioned). As for the click when you swallow I have that too but I don't know why. I assumed it was my thyroid. I have a lot of swollen lymph nodes in my neck but I also have a chronic sore throat and difficulty swallowing (I have a growth on my uvula but I'm not sure if it's all related or not; getting it checked out this week).

It is a scary thing! I've been putting it off and explaining it all away for several months now. My husband finally told me today that I really need to make an appointment with the dentist. So I'm calling tomorrow.

If you do a search for mouth cancer on this board it may bring up some old posts from others who have a similar problem. I have been helped a great deal at times by reading old posts.
