Question about pancreatic cancer. Please read.

I had to go to the ER today and they did blood tests.

My glucose was...

GLUCOSE H 122 (70-115) MG/DL STAT

I know this may sound silly but is that very high? Could this be a possible sign of Pancreatic Cancer?

All I had to eat less than one hour from getting the blood test done was a bowl of Bran Flakes w/milk.

I have had a very rough day and if someone could shed light on this, good or bad, I would feel a lot better.

Thank you.

Sounds like your pancreastis is doing a wonderful job. It sproducing the right amount of insulin. Some people BS would be in the 200's after the ceral and milk.
Hope that makes you feel better

By the way the only way to get an acturate BS result is to fast for 8 hours. Also different lab have different values. That labs say 701-115. My lab may say 60-120.

Re: Question about pancreatic cancer. Please read.

Mr. Panicky, I've had pancreatitis several times and it had nothing to do with my glucose. My sugar level is usually low between 70 and 90. When you get pancreatitis your white blood cell count goes through the roof. The pain is also excruitating, in the pit of your stomach. I would not worry at all with your glucose level. It's right on the money. Take care, Linda

Re: Question about pancreatic cancer. Please read.

First of all, they made an error in designating that blood glucose level as "high" if it wasn't fasting.

Secondly, even if your blood glucose was too high, why on earth would the first place your mind jumps to be pancreatic cancer, when it would be much more likely for a high blood glucose level to indicate either diabetes or insulin resistance?!
