Scared about liver cancer.

Hello. Around October I had an ultrasound of my liver and other intestinal organs because of pain. I am diagnosed with general anxiety disorder. They found absolutely nothing wrong, no rumors or anything. They did find that I ha a fatty liver and possibly a developing gallbladder stone. I had blood work for my liver functions in January. They should nothing of concern. The only other test my doctor wanted was a blood test for diabetes. I was required to have a follow up ultrasound when I went to hospital in the fall. My question is, if the ultrasound showed no tumor in the fall could one develop in that short period of a time? If my blood tests showed no sign of liver concern in January, could a tumor develop in that time? I still have pain in that area from time to time, especially when stressed. I am so scared.

Re: Scared about liver cancer.

I think probably not. My gut feeling is a problem with liver cancer is that the liver has so much extra capacity that by the time liver has impaired it's function enough to show symptoms, it's way too late. So unlikely anything is going to show up in a short amount of time, certainly nothing that will produce symptoms.

The fatty liver and diabetes are more likely things to worry about. Cutting out Sugar, HFCS, and alcohol won't hurt you and may help.

Also recurring pain around your liver is more likely due to a gall bladder issue. Especially if associated with eating.
