I'm pretty concerned right now. I'm a 25 year old, caucasian male in good health. However, about 3 months ago I started developing symptoms that have me deeply troubled. I started to feel a tingly or itchy sensation in my urethra. I went to see the doctor who performed a culture and urinalysis which determined that it was not bacterial. After the culture, my urethra didn't just feel itchy it hurt. The pain subsided but ever since I have had a slight burning sensation that comes and goes, the itchy feeling is still there as well.

My doctor then performed a DRE and determined that my prostate was slightly enlarged. He told me it looked like I have steral prostitis and to take Alieve twice daily and soak in warm water. This did not seem to help so now he is putting me on 10 days of antibiotics thinking that possibly it could be bacterial prostitis (even though no bacteria turned up in the urinalysis).

Also, last week there was a tender knot under my right underam. It quickly went down and by the time I went to the doctor there was nothing for him to examine. I do seem to have a cold right now or something but I have never had anything like this before under my arm. I felt discomfort simply from raising it above my head.

If my treatment doesn't work, which it seems unlikely it will, then I am headed to the specialist. I'm pretty disturbed about this and the worst part is this has been going on for nearly 3 months. Can anyone offer their opinon or some advice? Thanks in advance for your reply!

Also, just a side note. I don't smoke, and no one in my immediate family has had prostate cancer or breast cancer. Although, my grandfather died of brain cancer at 73.
