I am truly concerned, as my husband and I had sex this morning and there was a lot of blood when I went to the bathroom(sorry to be graphic), and I have had a hysterectomy...so it's not me. I am going to talk to him about this as soon as he is home. Does anyone know if this is a sypmtom of prostate cancer? He is 55 and I am 17 years younger...very concerned. Any help is greatly appreciated, my Dad just had prostate cancer surgery last summer. Thanks for any help...Surg Disaster

This also happened to me one morning after my husband and I had sex. I had a hysterectomy the previous year. When I went to the bathroom, I discovered blood as well. Flew into the doctors office right away. It was me, not my husband. A skin tag type growth had formed in the vaginal canal where the incision was made. The skin tag bled. The doctor removed the skin tag (painless) and was sent for biopsy...negative. This is a pretty common occurance after hysterectomy. Can happen right after hysterectomy or somewhere down the road like happened to me. Janetto

Thank you so much for your reply....thing is, I had a hyst where they went through my old c-section scar..and I kept my cervix. I do get mini periods(due to old endo they think) but I had my "mini" last week. This was I'm sure from him. I "checked" myself after the intial "rush" of blood and there was nothing there. When I bleed with my minis, there is blood for a few days(but like at the end of your period. I did tell him about this..and he wants to bury his head. I'm hoping with time he will listen and check. I know my body sooooooooo well and there have been times(again , sorry so graphic) when he has ejaculated and I've seen a like pink tinge..really didn't think much of it till this time, as it was bright red, and an soon as "it" came out of me...nothing for the rest of the day, which is not usually how it works for me. I had no incision in the vaginal area at all...what do you think? And again, thank you, any and all info is needed and so much appreciated!!! Love Surg. Disaster P.S. I also worry because he won't go for physicals, let alone a PSA test and is 55.

Whether you had a vaginal or abdominal hysterectomy (I had abdominal), it makes no difference. These skin tags can form where they made your internal incision and left your cervix!!! I had also noticed several months prior to this bleed that the ejaculate looked pinkish. The day that I went to the doctor, my husband came out of the bathroom and showed me the toilet tissue that he had wiped himself with on the way to the bathroom. After I cleaned myself up, I had no more pinkish tinge. I also thought that it could have very well been my husband and not me. I figured it was much easier for me to get check than my husband......and it was me.

Also, remember that it is still very very important for you to get a pap smear since you have a cervix. I would suggest that you get checked first....It is very likely you. sorry!!!! Janetto

p.s. maybe your husband could masturbate and see what his ejaculate looks like.
