Hi, Mollie, His doctor may not be able to give you a more precise time than the hospital staff gave you. However, he probably will be more helpful than anybody else. From your description, he sounds very sick. He is from fortunate having a loving granddaughter. I think that must be a wonderful comfort to him. I heard that hearing is one of the senses that usually is functional even after a person near death doesn't respond. So if you time you visit, you can tell him you are there and you love him. You may not have any way of knowing, but that probably gives a big boost the care his nurses/doctors are giving him.
Even though this is the wrong board, I am glad you stopped by. It is good for us grandfathers who have prostate cancer to hear of a granddaughter who is worried about her grandfather who is very ill with another cancer.
