PSA level 56.9

My father has PSA level 56.9 .The doctor has advised biopsy. But I am wondering whether he would be able to tolerate biopsy. As his age is 77yrs and
he is diabetic and hypertensive.

How difficult of painful is biopsy of prostrate? Can anybody tell me which hospital is the best for biopsy is hyderabad?
Thank you.

Re: PSA level 56.9

Hi brenon woodford

Biopsy of the prostate is a simple tolerated procedure that I believe your father can sustain. There are several ways of getting needle-samples (biopsy), but the most common is the TRUS guided biopsy through the rectum. This is done under local anesthesia in a very short time so that your father may have it as an outpatient. Surely the doctor will choose an anesthetic drug that would not affect your father’s health conditions as you describe.

Many of us (younger and older) have several biopsies along the course of cancer treatment history.
You can search the net for more details on byopsyneedle. Just google the words and you get a list of choices.

Wishing your father good results,
