| Diabetes and PCA
Hi All-
It's been awhile since I've posted but I wanted to update you a little on my husbands struggle with diabetes and PCA. There is not a lot of discussion regarding this but I thought I might share this information for those out there with the same condition.
My husband is Type 1 diabetic and is stage 3 (possibly 4) PCA. He has had robotic surgery and radiation that has failed. About a year ago he has started on Eligard due to his rising PSA. So that is why I'm not sure if he is considered Stage 3 or 4. He was of course hesitant to start ADT due to his diabetes since it can make a diabetic insulin resistant. It did in fact happen causing him to struggle with his control. I wanted to share this information for others with diabetes. It is helpfull to hear all our stories and we can learn so much from them. He was put on a drug called Actos to help with his insulin resistance and it has worked wonders. He uses it right along with his insulin and has to watch/test his blood closely to make sure he doesn't go too low. But thank heavens it has worked and might be a benefit to others struggling with this problem.
