Itch u know where.

What are the chances of catching something from toilet seats? That could go un-noticed by professional doctor?
I get this uncontrollable itch in my rectum that gets my attention until it goes away. I've complained to my doctor and had a colonoscopy, blood tests, etc...and the doctor thought my diet was the problem because nothing looked out of the ordinary, so I'm wondering if he thought to consider something catchy from a toilet that's probably been used since the sixties that causes this itch to come and go!
I've cleaned it very very good with bleach, and the normal stuff stocked on store shelves, on a twice a week basis and I still have the come and go itchy blues. So I guess I'm asking could the toilet be that filthy.
Without a doctors diagnosis I'm resorting to the unlikely reasons on my own.
Since the place I live is a rented apartment health code violations could be the problem.

Re: Itch u know where.

Why don't you try some suppository with a bit of steroid in it. It could be mild irritation from wiping or stools too hard. Try a stool softener and a suppository with steroid in it and don't use bleach there it will tear your skin up. I doubt it's something from a toilet seat and wear loose fitting cotton underwear.. Also have you given a stool sample for your Dr. to check for ova and parasites? But again that's rare to have that. Hope it eases up for you. Sara

Re: Itch u know where.

Well from what I've read I think you misread what I originally wrote.
It sounds like you are under the impression I use bleach to wipe my arse? No!
Yes, the doctor did get a smear stool sample, and checked for parasites.
All the tests are normal.
When I went to see the doctor there was blood from wiping so much.
Since you mention loose underwear, I'll tell ya, I don't wear white underwear anymore for various reasons. Go figure why!? White does something to the chemistry of the problem.
I don't need my stools any softer so a softener,or suppository dosen't sound too wise.
Itching,is causing lots of discomfort, and dabbing a tiny bit of alcohol to make it clean helps the itch, but it stings.
I just can't find any knowledgeable suggestions or explainations why it goes away for days and always comes back and lasts for the same amount of days it was cured for.So common sense would suggest it's not me it's the toilet.

Re: Itch u know where.

I'm not sure the Prostate Cancer board is the best place to ask your question. What have you tried for it: cortisone cream, vaseline, gold bond powder, anti-fungals? Fungus infections flare up periodically the way you describe, and can be almost impossible to get rid of permanently. It's not the toilet seat.

Re: Itch u know where.

Check for parasites. I went to Dr. for a stool exam because I had one of those spa like colon cleanses and the lady told me I had parasites and that everyone had them. The Dr. looked at me like I was nutts....but I insisted. The test came back negative from the DR. I did a cleanse anyway and yes, I had parasites. You can find a cleanse at any health food store.
