Here I go again

One year out of IMRT treatments and now have a Bladder Cancer. I understood there was a small chance of secondary cancers. I just did not
know it would be so quick. Has anyone had External Beam and had a Bladder
Cancer.
My PSA was 6.3 last year Gleason 6. Present PSA .5. Urolo said he would
biopsy Prostate again during the surgery to remove Tumor in Bladder. Would
appreciate anybody having this problem to response for some advice.
Thank You

I am sorry to hear about your bladder cancer. Sincerely, you should be entitled to a break after PCa.
It is surprising that doctors didnít see any abnormality during diagnosis of PCa. Usually apart of MRIs, they include cystoscopy to check for metastasis. I had two performed; at diagnosis of PCa and after surgery, and I recall seeing pinkly colour bladder walls on tv screen.

This is another bump in your journey and you will do it over again.

NCI has a booklet on bladder cancer you may want to read. Here is the link;

Wishing you the best.
Baptista

Hi Mickey,

I'm sorry to read that you now have bladder cancer. You wrote in part:

I suspect you just had the awful luck to have two separate cancers at nearly the same time, or perhaps had a metastasis of the prostate cancer into the bladder. I'm not an MD and have had no enrolled medical education, but my impression is that secondary cancer caused by radiation is extremely rare for prostate cancer patients. Secondary cancer does happen of course, but it is a lot more common in children whose bodies are still developing rapidly. I think it's likely the bladder cancer you have was not caused by the radiation.

I wish you good outcomes for both cancers. It appears your prostate cancer may have been cured.

Take care,

Jim
