It has been awhile since I have visited the boards. I am doing some research for a friend who was recently diagnosed with bone cancer.
Personally, I am doing well enough. I am over my anger at my outcome with all the nasty side effects. I am keeping a positive outlook. I went in for urethral reconstruction Dec. 17. The procedure was postponed. They discovered too much dead tissue which had yet to slough off. I went in a week ago for a debridement. This was performed by a colorectal specialist, now part of the team. He will be repairing the damaged colon wall caused by the ulceration, which I got to see with a colonoscopy.
I will be returning in three weeks for another exam by both the urologist and colorectal surgeon. The urologist feels that he will able to reschedule the reconstruction at that time.
He was present during the debridement and said everything he saw was positive in respect to being able to repair the damage. He said, of course, there are no guarantees but he gave me an 80% chance of success.
Those odds sound pretty good but so did the 3% chance of suffering what I have as a result of the IMRT treatment. I am due for a break though.
Congratulations, Jim, on your tenth anniversary.
