Unhappy Need help with making the best treatment

Hi,
My boyfriend has just been dx with Prostate Cancer - He is 59 yr old and healthy. His PSA level is 4.4 - We need help and making the right choice for him for treatment. Need help from others who have gone thru this- He is the sole caregiver for his 81 yr mother is confined to a nursing home. Any suggestions or comments will help us in making the right decision. He has shown no symptons of Prostate Cancer and only found out thru his yearly check up

Re: Need help with making the best treatment

Maybe you can supply more info about his Dx? Depending on what they found, his options may range from active surveillance to curative therapy to managing the disease. It is most often a disease that men die with rather than from.

Re: Need help with making the best treatment

Cancer is like that, rarely any symptoms except what the medics tell you.

What options are you considering? Medics will usually suggest what they know best, so a range of medical advice (and books) will be helpful.

Once you have narrowed the field a bit you will find plenty of experienced advice on here.

Don't be scared, it is usually slow growing so you have time to make an informed choice and there are a wide range of effective solutions.

All the best,

Tumbleweed,
